This guitar sanding sealer (500mL) is a water-based guitar sealer used to seal the wood (bare or dyed) and create a consistent surface before the varnish or topcoats.
Usage
Made to seal the wood and build a uniform foundation. This guitar wood sealer improves adhesion, reduces uneven absorption, and supports a cleaner finish. On dyed wood, it locks the colour in, so you can sand the sealer without sanding the colour off.
Application
-
Use cases: Sealing the wood after the dye (or on natural wood) before the varnish; base coat under lacquer, varnish, or other topcoats; sandable foundation after grain filling (or directly on wood).
Key Features
-
Strong adhesion for reliable coating build.
-
Fast-drying workflow: dry 2–4 hours between coats (typical conditions).
-
Easy sanding for a flat, smooth base.
-
Low odor, water-based, low VOC.
-
Smooth, transparent result.
-
Water & UV resistant properties to support durability in the finishing system.
-
Coverage: 500mL is suitable for at least 2 guitars (depends on porosity and application method).
Compatibility
Designed to integrate into a water based guitar finish schedule, under color systems and topcoats. Use it after grain filling and after the dye (when used), before the varnish, to improve uniformity and adhesion. For a ceruse effect, a light sealer coat goes on the dyed wood before the grain filler, so the filler stays in the pores.
Installation
Directions: Stir well. Apply evenly in thin coats. Let dry 2–4 hours between coats. Apply 2–3 thin coats, and sand lightly between coats for best adhesion and leveling.
Build Considerations
- Start from a clean, dust-free surface (after the final sanding, the grain filler and the dye; let the dye dry 24 hours).
- Apply thin coats to avoid runs and maintain clarity.
- Once dry, sand lightly to level.
- Then apply the varnish (top coat).
Notes
Ingredients: Water, acrylic emulsion binder, mineral fillers.
Safety & storage: Non-toxic water-based formula. Store sealed between 5–30°C, away from heat and sunlight.
Tip: Test your full finishing schedule on scrap or inside cavities before committing to the whole guitar.
