Sticker, decal, skin: which one do you need?

They are all printed vinyl, cut for a different part of the guitar. A large sheet for the body is what most people mean by guitar stickers, and we stock them as graphic guitar skins with a printed design or as solid color guitar wraps in one flat color, chrome or glitter. A small piece for the headstock, with a brand name on it, is a custom headstock decal. And if what you want does not exist yet, we make your own guitar skins from your file.

Fitting

How a guitar sticker goes on, in 4 steps

1

Check the size

One 50x60 cm sheet covers the front and sides of a Strat, Tele, Les Paul, SG, ES-335, PRS, Precision or Sting Ray body.
Vinyl length requirements →

2

Strip and clean

Take off the strings, the scratchplate and the hardware you want to sit on top of the vinyl, then wipe the body down so nothing is trapped underneath.

3

Warm and squeegee

Start in the middle and push the air outwards. Warm the horns and the forearm contour with a hairdryer so the vinyl stretches into the curve.

4

Trim and press

Cut round the edge with a fresh blade, then press the edge down with your thumb. The laminate is the top coat, so there is nothing to varnish afterwards.

It comes off again

The adhesive is repositionable: warm the vinyl gently, lift a corner and peel it back slowly, and a sound finish is left as it was. That is the real difference between this and a paint job, and it is why people fit them to guitars they would never spray. On an old, checked or flaking finish, test a small piece on the back of the body first.

Something nobody else has

A photo of your own, a drawing, a tattoo design, a band logo: we upscale and sharpen the file to full print resolution, correct the colors and send a Stratocaster mock-up for approval before we print. The same goes for the headstock, where a custom headstock decal puts your own brand name on the guitar in a factory-style layout, 119 mm long by default and scalable to your neck.

FAQ

Questions about guitar stickers

Do guitar stickers damage the finish?

No, not on a sound finish. The vinyl uses a repositionable adhesive, so it lifts off again with gentle heat and leaves nothing behind. On an old, checked or flaking finish, test a small piece on the back of the body first.

Will it fit my guitar?

The sheet is 50x60 cm, which covers the front and the sides of almost any solid body in one piece: Stratocaster, Telecaster, Les Paul, SG, ES-335, PRS, Rickenbacker, Mockingbird, Precision and Sting Ray bass. Long or unusually wide bodies are covered in our size guide.

What do I need to fit one?

A hairdryer or heat gun, a squeegee, a fresh blade and a clean surface. No specialist tools, and no varnish afterwards: the vinyl is laminated, and the adhesive lets you lift and reposition while you work.

Can I put stickers on a bass?

Yes. The same 50x60 cm sheet fits Precision, Jazz, Sting Ray and Thunderbird style bodies. Check the length of your body against the size guide if it is a long-scale or extended shape.

Can I print my own design?

Yes. Send a photo, a drawing or a logo and we enhance the file, correct the colors and print it on the same vinyl, from $103. See make your own guitar skins. You can also put your own text on the headstock with a custom headstock decal from $35.

How long does the vinyl last?

The vinyl is 0.15 mm, high-gloss laminated, anti-scratch, rated from -50C to 220C and covered by a 2 year warranty. It is the same class of material used for vehicle wrapping, so it handles gigging and case life. If you want extra protection on a guitar that gets played hard, you can clear coat over it.

Do you ship to the US?

Yes, we ship to the US, Canada, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Sheets travel flat and light, so they are one of the cheapest things we post. Options and cost are shown at checkout, see delivery methods.
